I've got a copy of Acrobat (not the latest version) installed on my computer as well as the latest version of Reader. In my browser, PDFs open by default in the old version of Acrobat, but I would prefer them to open in Reader. Ideally I just want to use Reader for everything exept creating or editing PDFs which I'll use Acrobat for.

Is there a way to have both Acrobat and Reader installed but set my browser to use the plug-in for Reader? I use Firefox normally but the same problem occurs in IE too. NB I don't want to download PDFs then open them in reader, just to view them in Reader in the browser.

Have you ever thought about using this free alternative reader?

Much faster than AAR.

I have the same problem since installing ver 6.0 of Reader whilst keeping Full Acrobat ver 5.0. Would like to find a way around this - particularly as pdf files written using some of the new features in ver 6.0 will not open in Acrobat 5.0.
