Firstly, please note that this is not fully released yet but we thought we would give users the chance to use this over the upcoming holiday period while some things are finalised.

As per our beta trial a few months ago we have now got the 'Atmail' system running for 34SP.com hosted email accounts.

This can be accessed by 2 ways :

1) Use https://webmail.34SP.com and fill in all the fields it mentions.

or

2) Modify a DNS record on your domain and you can then login using http://webmail.YOURDOMAIN at which point you will only need to supply your username and password.

If you wish to use the DNS method, please realise that DNS changes can take up to 24 hours to propagate and once done you will no longer be able to access the current 'horde' webmail system.

To make the requried DNS changes, log in at https://www.34SP.com/login
Click on Products -> {product type}
Click the 'More' link next to the domain you wish to update
Scroll down to "DNS MANAGEMENT"
Make a note of the record named 'webmail' and note down this IP address in case you wish to revert to the old webmail system
Click on the edit icon and fill it in as follows:
Record Type: CNAME
Domain: webmail.YOURDOMAIN
Canonical name : webmail.34sp.com. (ensure you select the . at the end)

You will now need to allow time for the DNS records to propagate and you can then login using the webmail.YOURDOMAIN as you do currently with horde.

A few things to point out:

1) By default the system is setup to 'remove items from Trash' on logout, so if you wish to retain your deleted emails ensure that you alter this in the settings straight away after logging in.

2) Address books will not be available at this time, we can import address books on request.

3) Calendar data will not be transported - this will not be migrated at any point as it is not possible to migrate between the two different data formats.

This system is usable for webmail on all 34SP.com account types - reseller/plus/personal/business/vps.

Any issues / queries / comments please do let us know.

An update to this if you use the webmail CNAME dns change to login to access this webmail system you can brand the login screen, this is simply done by placing a logo in your httpdocs folder named webmail_logo.gif and it will then display this instead of the 34SP logo on the login screen.

The dimensions of the logo should be 50px high and upto 200px wide.

This should enable you to make the webmail feel more of your site rather than just being an seperate application like horde.

i really like this @mail
didnt get to test it much during the trial but i look forward to using it properly now.

oh for people wanting to move contacts over, you dont really need to contact support to do it,
just export from horde as a csv file and import into @mail
takes 2 secs to do...

maybe you should add a link to this thread on the @mail news item on the homepage so poeple can see it....

I think the new webmail looks fantastic, but I have just a few questions from a reseller's point of view.

The first is that I think the ability to change the logo at the top is great, but is there any chance of being able to customise any more of the login screen? Perhaps the blue bar at the top right, or maybe even a CSS file so we can change colours slightly - fortunately my brand image is blue anyway so it's not too much of a concern, but it'd be a nice feature to be able to tweak the hex codes anyway

I first tried it via webmail.34sp.com and now I have set it up via webmail.mydomain.com using DNS. I notice two things:

1. I first tried doing it at mymail.mydomain.com so as not to replace my existing webmail systems (I'm just thinking of clients who don't like change!). When I did it via this "subdomain" it worked fine except for showing my custom logo. Any ideas?

2. When doing it at webmail.mydomain.com, it makes the domain name field (i.e. the login bit after the @ symbol) read only. Because I'm using the VPS with a shared IP address, it doesn't matter whether they connect to mail.mydomain.com or mail.theirdomain.com but having all my clients connect via @mail setup on my domain is much easier than creating a DNS entry and webmail_logo.gif on every client's name.

Any ideas?

The login screen was built with the webmail.DOMAIN in mind - it works out where to look for the logo by working out the domain name by removing the webmail. part - its not really possible to cater for unknown situations.

Adding of custom CSS/bar is a possibility but its only in its infancy at this time - the bar would probably be easy to do similar to how we have done the logo - the css could be a bit more fun.

In regards to the domain being marked as readonly when using webmail.DOMAIN also a feature so that people dont try logging in using webmail.DOMAINA.COM and entering the details for DOMAINB.com (as this wont work as it will try to login to DOMAINA still as it has got this from the URL)

You could of course write your own login screen and host it on your webspace and then just redirect to the webmail server once you have reached the login stage.

How do we use the cname redirect with the spam servers? will it just work? Also if you host your DNS externally (eg ZoneEdit) how do you go about setting it up (zoneedit doesn't allow the dot at the end) Can you also use another name instead of webmail like betamail for the time being to see what the users think?

The "." at end is down to individual systems - our dns system allows the choice of '.' or '.domain' at end hence the reason for this statement.

The new webmail can be accessed directly via http://webmail.34sp.com for testing purposes - it will not respond to a cname of anything but webmail.

You can alternativly build your own login page directly on your own site if you want for evaluation purposes - the url you would need to build (shown here as a GET url but prefered you make your form do it via POST)

http://webmail.34sp.com/atmail.php?username=USERNAME&password=PASSWORD&pop3host=DOMAIN&MailServer=mail.DOMAIN&LoginType=xp

USERNAME is just eg info (if the email address is info@DOMAIN)

Values of LoginType are :
simple= Basic (Any browser)
ajax=Simple (Ajax browser)
xp=Advanced (IE/FF)

Adding image to signature

This can be done using normal html tags ie:

<img src="http://www.DOMAIN/siglogo.jpg" alt="siglogo">

Now how this works depends on another setting:

Block images in email messages

If you have this set to 'Block All' it will not allow the image at all.

If you have it set to 'Display for any message' it will display without any issues.

If however you had it set to 'Display for trusted user in address books' it would also not display the image - we have however made modifications to this function and if you follow these instructions it should work fine.

First ensure you have the Block Images setting set to the addressbook setting - and 'Save' so the page refreshes.

Next if you do not already have so add an entry to your addressbook for yourself, and simply fill in the website as www.DOMAIN and save these changes

Go back to the account preferences and now add yourself the signature - as long as the domain used is in your addressbook it will allow you to add a png or jpg graphic to your signature using normal html code.

Any issues with this let us know - its newly added code so may need some tweaks.

Realised my mistake - I was using a gif image and this made all the difference apparently. Following Ian's advice to the letter (MUST use png or jpg) sorts it.
many thanks

So when is this rolling out? Is this going to be an automatic upgrade at some point in the near future? or do we need to follow the above?

Ah, finally... If I change mine over to @, does this affect all the other email accounts I manage?

Sorry for all the questions. Just a little excited to have a new toy to play with

The 'webmail' is actually a full server based solution as well, the first accounts to be moved in their entirity to it will be new spam accounts, we are just working on a few small things before going ahead with this completely

(rewrites of help pages / scripts to convert all the old email to new email systems etc)

So in the meantime the way to use it for your accounts is to setup the webmail records as mentioned in the posts above.

Not sure what you mean by affect other email accounts you manage, but at this time as a webmail only client as its usage would be all adding/deleting of email accounts would still be done via the plesk siteadmin area.

Hi there,

I've had a little play with your new Webmail interface and notice there's a function to sync with outlook - so I downloaded the software from the link you provided: http://atmail.com/websync/webmail-sync-51.msi. It installed fine in my outlook 2007... however when I try to sync I get the following message:
Your server version is too old to support this version of WebSync. Please contact your web administrator to upgrade to the latest version.

Thought I'd let you know.

I only tried it because it said it did support 2007. this is from the webmail help files:

Sync Utility for Outlook [ Help Index ]

What is the Webmail sync utility?

The utility allows you to sync your webmail account with Outlook. With it all contacts, calendar and task information you have with the WebMail account are transferred over to Outlook, and vice-versa.

How do I enable Mail sync with Outlook?

To sync your WebMail account with Outlook, do the following:

1. First, download the @Mail-sync installation utility for Outlook 2000, 2003 or 2007 at http://atmail.com/websync/webmail-sync-51.msi
2. After downloading, run the webmail-sync installation utility and install the software on your computer. After installation, restart Outlook and the new plugin will be automatically installed.

It works on most accordingly but the odd setup doesnt work, mainly people running vista i beleive that it affects.

Sadly i dont have outlook to be able to test so makes it hard for me to debug.

Ian,

I use Win XP Pro and have outlook because I got a fantastic deal as a student... I normally use Thunderbird, I liked the idea of being able to sync...

Thanks for your efforts anyway.

Thinking about it, its also possibly not working as you dont have a true account on the server you would only be using it as a webmail client at this time - not sure if that would affect it.

I have Private Messaged some details of a proper login account for you.
