Here's my 34sp hosted site, offering unique holidays to places such as Chernobyl, North Korea and the Trans Siberian Express.

Any feedback on improving the look of the site would be much appreciated.

The Trans Siberian is very tempting!

I think the great banner photo is spoiled by the company logo. Not sure how to improve it though

Yeah I've thought that myself too since I put it up - it doesn't seem to go with it at all, but I'm not sure how to get around it without getting rid of one or the other!

You could try blending the two together. Here's a very rough example:

Design-wise, there are a few other things I'd consider changing:
  • The green background doesn't look very nice. Try basing the colour scheme on the yellow and turquoise in the logo (e.g., yellow fills turquoise strokes and hyperlinks) and see how that works.

  • The borders above and below the top banner are very distracting. If anything, just use a simple ruled line.

  • The items in the navigation menu are far too small, and the mouseover effect looks a bit kludgy.

  • The centred alignment in the left column makes the content look like it's lost at sea. Perhaps it will look better when you get round to putting some content in there, but I maybe a straight left margin would be neater.

  • The "Updates" header has a different left margin to the items underneath it. This looks inconsistent and untidy.

Thanks for the tips, much appreciated

I tried blending them together before without much luck but even that rough version of yours looks a million times better than my attempt!

I did try using the logos colours as the colour scheme but I didn't really like how it looked.

I'll fiddle around with everything anyway and post the results here soon.

Thanks again.
